    Will of "John Dotey sen'r of Plimouth", dated 15 Apr 1701, inventory taken 17 May 1701, will proved 3 Jun 1701, mentions "my loving wife Sarah Dotey", "my Eldest son John", "four youngest Sons Isaac Dotey & Samuel Dotey Elisha Dotey and Josiah Dotey", daughter Elizabeth Moss [wife of Joshua Morse], "four youngest Daughters Martha Sarah Patience and Desire", "my loving Brother John Rickard".

    Date of his birth is established by an affidavit dated 6 May 1684 wherein he says he was "about fourth-four years of age", making his birth about 1639-40. He died 8 May 1701, m. (1) on unknown date in 1667 Elizabeth Cooke, m. (2) by 1695 Sarah --- [wrongly speculates it could be Sarah Rickard, probably based on reference to John Rickard as his brother in will in S6. But a John Rickard married first wife Elizabeth Cooke's sister Mary, and that is sufficient to explain the relationship expressed in the will.]
