John was born around Aug 1858 probably in Bath County. Kentucky. His parents were James Dale (1837-1927) and Mary Ann (Clow) Dale (1837-1903). In 1860 He was living with his parents and sister in Bath County, Kentucky. He was listed as being 2 years old. ^[2] In 1870 The family was living in Sharpsburg. John was listed as being 11 years old. He was not attending school and could not read or write. ^[3] They were still in Sharpsburg in 1880. John was listed as being 21 years old and He was working as a farm laborer. He could not read or write. ^[4] He married Eveline L Kenney on 23 Dec 1880 in Nicholas County, Kentucky, United States. ^[5]

John and Eveline had at least 2 child:

1. Isaac Dale
2. Ida J (Dale) Vinson (1899-1976)

In 1900 John and Eva were living in Magisterial District 3, Buzzard Roost Precinct D, Nicholas, Kentucky, United States with their 2 children. Also in the home were their 2 nephews and a niece. ^[6] John passed away on July 10, 1909 in Nicholas County, Kentucky. ^[7] He was laid to rest in the Carlisle Cemetery in Carlisle, Nicholas County, Kentucky, United States. ^[1]

Researcher’s Notes

In the 1900 census John was listed as being born in Aug 1858 and his sister was listed as being born in Feb 1860. I think the birth error is from her having the wrong date on her death certificate. Dale-2823 18:41, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
