A transcription of his PCC will: In the Name of God Amen I John Creswell of the Town of Stourbridge in the County of Worcester Currier Do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner following. Imprimis I Give and bequeath unto my loving Wife Ann Creswell one clear Annuity or yearly Sum of thirty pounds to be paid her Quarterly by my Executor hereafter named during her natural life out of my personal Estate with which I charge the same and to be paid to her without any Deduction or Abatement for or on account of Taxes or any other Cause or pretence whatsoever the first quarterly payment to begin and be made within three months next after the Day of my Decease. Item I Give unto my said loving Wife all my Household Goods Plate Furniture and Linnen of what Nature and kindsoever Except only the Silver Tankard Silver Pint Cup and Silver half pint Cup hereinafter mentioned, to be by her disposed of as she shall think proper Item I Give unto my loving Brother Benjamin Creswell a clear Annuity of Fifty two shillings to be paid quarterly by my Executor hereafter named out of my personal Estate during his natural Life the first Quarterly Payment to be made within three Quarters next after the Day of my Decease Item I Give unto my Grandson John Owen the Sum of two hundred pounds to be paid him by my Executor hereafter mentioned out of my personal Estate with which I Charge the same and to be paid to him when he shall arrive to the age of twenty two years and my Will and desire is that the Interest of the said two hundred pounds after the rate of four pounds and ten shillings Percent per Annum shall be applied by my Executor in the Maintenance and Education of the said John Owen and putting him out apprentice to such Trade or Business as he shall like and finding and providing Sufficient Cloathes and other Necessaries for him during his apprenticeship and my Will is that if the Interest of the said two hundred pounds shall not be Sufficient for the Maintenance Education and putting out apprentice the said John Owen That then my Executor hereafter named do expend out of my personal Estate so much money as shall be Sufficient for the purposes aforesaid and I do hereby earnestly desire my said Executor to behave towards the said John Owen with great Tenderness and Humanity and my Will and meaning further is that if the said John Owen shall happen to dye before he attains his said age of twenty two years Then the said two hundred pounds so given to him is not to be paid or raised but to fall to my Executor for his benefit and only use Item I Give and bequeath unto the said John Owen the Silver half pint Cup which I desire him never to part with but keep for my sake Item I Give unto my loving Daughter Mary Gill the Silver Pint Cup to keep for my sake Item I give unto my said Daughter Mary Gill the Sum of one hundred pounds to be paid within one year after my decease Item I Give unto my Grandaughter Mary Gill the sum of one hundred pounds Item I Give unto my Grandson John Gill the Sum of one hundred pounds Item I Give unto my Grandaughter Phoebe Gill the like Sum of one hundred pounds which said three last several Sums of one hundred pounds I desire may be paid out of my personal Estate by my Executor hereafter named when and as soon as my said three Grandchildren shall arrive to their respective Ages of twenty one years to and for the Maintenance & Education of my said three Grandchildren and my Will and meaning further is that if all or either of my said Grandchildren shall happen to dye before he she or they arrive to their said respective ages of twenty one years that then and in such Case the Legacy thereof to be paid & applied by my Executor to and among such Child or Children of my said Daughter Mary Gill begotten or to be begotten by her Husband John Gill in such proportions and in such manner as my said Daughter Mary Gill shall by any Deed or Instrument in Writing by her executed direct or appoint and for Want of such Direction and appointment then to be paid by my Executor equally to & among such of my sd Daughter Mary Gills Children begotten or to be begotten by her said husband who shall happen to Survive my said Daughter Mary Gill ...earnestly Item my Will & Desire is that my Executor hereafter named do within twelve Months next after my Decease lay out the Sum of ten pounds in Bibles of good paper & print to be Distributed among such poor people of the Parishes of Bell Broughton and Clent and the Townships of Stourbridge & Cradley as my said loving Wife and my Executor hereafter named shall think proper Item I give unto my loving Son John Creswell the Silver Tankard whereon I desire that the following Motto may be Engraved (when this you see remember me) and as to all the rest residue and remainder of my Goods Chattels Stock in Trade Implements and Personal Estate of what Nature & kindsoever I Give and bequeath unto my said loving Son John Creswell whom I constitute and appoint Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and lastly I earnestly Beseech and Intreat my said loving Wife and [son?] to live in peace & Unity one with another and that [my?] Will may in every sort be fulfilled without any [...] or Uneasiness among them In
