John was employed as a Brewer in Burnley, according to the 1901 Census (piece 3862 Folio 149 page 34). Some time before the 1911 Census, he took his family to Clonakilty, in his native Cork, Ireland to begin a new life, and like them, he remained there. He was a "licensed vitualler", running a pub at 19 George Street. Did he inherit the public house business?
