John Tappen Conklin, son of John and Phoebe (Tappen) Conklin was born on 5 March 1886 in Cambridge City, Indiana. On 8 May 1910 he married Laura Abbie Rush, daughter of Christian and Gertrude Rush. John was a farmer and is listed in the 1919 Farmers and Breeders List for Wayne County. John is described as a "life-long" resident of Cambridge City. Laura was born on 17 August 1886. John died 15 September 1977 in Cambridge City. John and Phoebe are buried in Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City. His wife died about three weeks after he did. Both obituaries state that they died at age 91.
