John Brothers of Second Street Dies

John Brothers, 74, retired oil field worker who lived in Marietta during the last 12 years, died at his home, 405-1/2 Second Street on Friday at 4 P.M. following an extended illness.

Mr. Brothers was born in Nobel County on April 23, 1866. His parents were the late Benjamin and Margaret Westbrook Brothers. He married Miss Laura Flowers of Willow, W.Va., and she survives with six sons and daughters, Harry Brothers of St. Marys, W.Va., Mrs. Bessie Oliver of Marietta R.D.6, Everett Brothers of the family home, Mrs. Pearl Massey of Steubenville, Mrs. Olive Harris of Pampa, Tex., and Mrs. Hazel Wigal of Parkersburg, W.Va. Three sons and one daughter are deceased. They are Ernest, Robert, Earl, and Eva.

Five brothers survive. They are D. R. Brothers of Marietta, Wesley Brothers of Maumee, Joseph Brothers of Chester, W.Va., William Brothers of Williamstown, W.Va., and Noah Brothers of Wellsburg, W.Va. Two Sisters, Mrs. Deborah Matheny and Mrs. Ella Barnes, are desceased. There are eight grandchildren.

Mr. Brothers was a member of the Church of Christ in Marietta. [Buried at Willow Island Cemetery, Pleasants County]
