Funeral services were held Sunday [9 Feb 1947] for John Kenton Boothe, 41, who had been a resident of Dickens County since 1912, and died late Friday [7 Feb 1947] in Lubbock. Services were held at 2:30 in the afternoon at the Church of Christ, with Furman Cauthen, officiating. Chandler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Boothe was born in Runnels County, December 12, 1905 and was married to Pearl Pierce at Spur who preceded him in death in 1936. To this union two children were born, a son, John Riley, and a daughter, Janice. He had been employed in Lubbock for the past three years but had maintained a home here. Death which had occurred suddenly was from natural causes. Pallbearers were Delwin Jones, R.E. Jones, Jr., Billy Merrell Randall, David Enger, George Tate and Troy Boothe. Flower bearers were Mrs. David Enger, Mrs. R.E. Jones, Jr., Mrs. Delvin Jones, Mrs. George Tate, Mrs. Earnest Kearney and Mrs. Louis Pierce. Surviving are a son, John Riley Boothe, who lives with an aunt at Girard, Mrs. Virgil Murphy [Murray] of Spur; two sisters, Mrs. R.E.Jones of Lubbock and Mrs. Lee Randall of Fort Worth; three brothers, Homer A. Boothe, Preston Boothe and Garvey Boothe, all of Spur. References
