The deceased was born May 5 in Milam County, Texas. He was the son of Mr. And Mrs. J. H. Boothe. He came to Dickens County in 1912, located in Spur, where he was married to Miss Dora Odeneal in 1914, where they established their first home and raised two sons to manhood, Larry and Julian. Mrs. Dora Boothe preceded Mr. Boothe in death in 1932, and Julian, was killed in action over France in 1944. At the age of 17, he was united with the Church of Christ of which he was a consistent attendent. He was married to Mrs. Hazel Campbell of Lubbock in 1945. He was well known in business circles, having been employed with the Gulf Oil Corporation for almost thirty years, was one of the first men in this section to have the Gulf Oil Agency. About three years ago he received a certificate of award for 27 years of meritorious service. By his honesty and uprightness in his business contacts his business associates became his friends. He was a good husband, devoted father, a loyal friend. Spur and the surrounding communities are grieved at his passing. Survivors include his wife, one son and daughter-in-law, Larry Boothe and wife of Lubbock; two daughters, Margie Lou and Melba Lee Campbell of Spur; two brothers, Preston and Garvie Boothe of Spur; two sisters, Mrs. R.E. Jones of Lubbock and Mrs. L.M. Randall of Fort Worth; two half sisters, Grace and Jean Boothe of Spur. Image Gallery
