According to an IGI record, John and Martha had children: William; Joseph A.; Curtis Jackson 1827-1899; Delilah 1829; Phebe 1832-1909 m. Jesse S. Piles; Elam Henry 1835-1907; and Hannah 1837-1846. There is a marriage record for Curtis Beals and Mary Smith in 1849 in Randolph Co. In the 1850 census for Washington, Warren Co., Indiana, John 'Bowles' is a farmer, age 49 from Ohio; with Martha 44 Virginia; Phibe 18 (f) Indiana; Elsen 15 IN; and William 9 IN. Also listed are James Brandenburg 22 OH and Henry Hunt 20 MD, farmers.
