[On 9 Nov 1804 John Barr of Frederick County VA assigned power of attorney to obtain bounty land for his service as a private in the First Partizan Corps commanded by Gen. Charles Armand Tuffin, Marquis de la Rouerie. The following is a transcript of a copy of his discharge.]
this is to certify that John Barr a private in the Grenadier in the first Partisan legion under my command has served faithfully & bravely to this day is hereby Discharged from the servis of the united States in Pursuance of orders Received from the commander in chief bearing Date the third instant & farther certify that John Barr a pivate in the Grenadier having been inlisted in the State of Virginia is intitled by the Resolution of Congress of the 13 of February 1779 to the benefits that have been or hereafter shall be granted by the said State to the noncomissioned officers and soldiers of the said Line

NOTE: The name John Barr appears on a list of Virginia soldiers in Armand’s Legion at the time it was disbanded on 15 Nov 1783. By the resolution of Congress of 18 Feb 1779, those soldiers were entitled to 200 acres of bounty land, rather than the 100 acres granted to Barr.
