He was son of Jonathan Barnes and Elizabeth Hedge. From Savage's Genealogical Dictionary JONATHAN, Plymouth, s[on]. of John, m[arried]. 4 Jan. 1666, Elizabeth d[aughter]. of William Hedge of Yarmouth, had Mary, b[orn]. 14 Aug. 1667; John, 5 Mar. 1669; William, 14 Feb. 1670; Hannah, 11 Nov. 1672; Lydia, 4 July 1674; Elizabeth 16 Aug. 1677; Sarah, 28 Feb. 1680; Esther, 18 Feb. 1682; and Jonathan, 27 Aug. 1681; beside two more d[aughter]s. of names unkn[own]. From the Bartlett Society On 5 June 1744 Samuel Foster and Jonathan Barnes were appointed administrators of the estate of John Barnes, late of Plymouth, yeoman. On the same sate Anna Barnes of Plimpton, widow, yielded her right to the estate of her late husband John Barnes of Plymouth in return for an annual payment by Seth Barnes, Jonathan Barnes Richard Waite, Jonathan Bartlett, Elizabeth Curtis, Lemuel Barnes, and by John Rider and Nathaniel Bartlett for the heirs of Hannah Drew, deceased. On 14 Jan 1744 order was given to divide the estate of John Barnes, late of Plymouth, among his children John Barnes, Seth Barnes, Jonathan Barnes; Mary Rider, Samuel Drew and William Drew being representatives of Hannah Drew; Mary Waite, Thankful Bartlett, Eliza Curtis and Lydia Barnes.
