  4.   BIRTH: John, "aged 30 years and more," was identified as the son and heir of his father, John Baker in his inquisition post mortem, taken at Lewes, 12 June 1557, abstracted in F. W. T. Attree, ed., Notes of Post Mortem Inquisitions Taken in Sussex. 1 Henry VII to
    1649 and After, Sussex Record Society, vol. 14 (London, 1912), 13. The inquisition further explains that John was the 2d son behind William who was alive on 8 July 1547 when John received the manor of Isenhurst in Mayfield and Waldron from his father.

Wife was daughter of Richard Isted of "Moate House" in Mayfield.
