There is an article in the Adams Sentinel of 2 Jun 1823 stating that the legal representatives or legal guardians of John Mummert, Jacob Mummert, George Mummert, Abraham Mummert and Catharine, intermarried with John Bucher were to appear at an Orphans Court hearing for the disposition of the one hundred and forty-four acres of real estate owned by John Mummert, dec'd, in Hamilton Twp., Adams Co., PA. From John Mummert - The Orphans court hearing on the estate of Johannis ( John ) Mummert that was scheduled for 8-23-1823 was not held as none of the heirs showed up. The land was to be divided among the widow and the 5 children. Apparently some of them balked as the court then ordered an appraisal of the property and it was sold at public auction to a George Mummert for $17.50 per acre, This is probably son George .
