Barbara Morehead notes: Possibly from Bavaria, Germany first and then into Holland. Johannes was a planter, and arrived with his family at Philadelphia 22 Nov 1752, on the "Phoenix" from Rotterdam, Holland. First settled in Berks County, Pa., then on the Hogan's Creek, Caswell County, NC. From 1777-1796 he purchased 1446 acres of land.

"Immigrants in Pa 1727-1776" says he came on the ship "Anderson", Hugh Campbell, Cap't., from Rotterdam, last from Portsmouth. Gives his name as Johannes Stratter.

Apparently Conrad was married at the time of immigration, as a daughter was born ca 1752 (census of NC) in the area of HOgan's Crek, Caswell Co., NC. Conrad and his family possible were Quakers.

The earliest land record for Conrad is 29 Nov 1777 purchasing 215 acres with 210 pounds Virginia currency, land located on North side of Hogan's Creek, Caswell Co., Book A, pg 37 or 87. In 1797, he began deeding approx 200 acres to each of his heirs completing this before writing his will.
