Facts and Events
Johannes Scheidemann was a farmer, of the Reformed faith, from Hessen, Germany, who was among the original settlers of the village of Norka in the German colonies along the Volga. His first wife was named Anna Margaretha, and they married probably in Germany, and had a son named Nicolaus abt 1765, shortly before they emigrated. The emigration took over a year. On 9 Aug 1766, they arrived in Oranienbom (near St. Petersburg) on a ship commanded by Capt. Pezepechny. Over a year later, on 15 Aug 1767, they arrived in the Norka colony. His young son died in the first year after arriving, and his wife had no more children before she died (sometime before 1775).S1 Johannes took a second wife sometime between 1775 and 1779, Barbara Völcker, from the Jagodnaja Poljana colony, nearly twenty years his junior. They had seven children together.S1 References
