The Reich family originally comes from Furnsal. According to the church records there, the ancestors of the Reich farmers of this place are: 1. Reich, Johannes, farmer, born 1593, died April 12, 1676. Married to Barbara (first marriage), who died on March 15, 1672. 2. Reich, Georg, farmer, born February 6, 1634, died 1730. On October 27, 1656, he married his first wife, Maria, widow of Stefan Steizer, who had been a farmer at Furnsal. She died in 1696. 3. Reich, Johannes, farmer, born February 19, 1657 at Furnsal. In 1681 he married Salome, the widow of Michael Everhar, who owned the "Brafen Hof" at Betzweiller. After his wife's death, he married Eva, nee Weigold, in 1692. The couple died in 1740. [Update to the Chronicle of the Reich Family at Betzweiler - Mayor Jackle (ret), December 18, 1938] [refering to Georg...] The father "Alt (Old) Hans Jorg", who in 1721/22 was still registered as a citizen, but had not signed the tax book, then would be -- as listed in 1721 -- one of the "three old people having passed away at the ages of 61, 62, and 80." He must have married very young, which was not unusual right after the 30-year-war that had decimated the population noticeably. ID # 21 in Family Tree.
