    KOOY, John, age 89, formerly of 307 N. 9th St., Lynden, passed away on Sun. Jan. 10, 1982. Born in the Netherlands, Mr. Kooy was a retired farmer & carpenter and a member of the Third Christian Reformed Church of Lynden. On Feb. 24, 1920, he was married to Cornelia Geleynse at Lynden. They then moved to Nobleford, Alberta and returned to Lynden in 1946. Mrs. Kooy died in 1979. He is survived by 4 sons, Ralph and his wife Geraldine, John Jr. and his wife Dena, Harold and his wife Sarah and Don and his wife Bernice, all of Lynden; 18 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Mrs. Alice Koster, Mrs. Grace Heusinkveld and Mrs. Ida Hempel, all of Lynden and Mrs. Helen VanDyke of Nobleford, Alberta and numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Thurs. Jan. 14 at 2 p.m. in the Third Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Gerrit W. Sheeres officiating. Burial will follow in Monumenta Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Cascade Christian Home in Lynden. Services are under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home.
