St. Matthew's 'Toten Register': No. 87 Johann Georg Martin Weiss, born the 2nd of September, 1818 in Wickersheim, Kingdom of Wuetemberg, died the 15th of January, 1870 of Lung infection [probably pnuemonia] at the age of 51 years, 11 months and 3 days, and was buried the 17th of January, 1870. [Translation by Rev. Paul Ruff].

Burial at St. Matthew's in Wall Rose is something of a mystery -- his funeral notice is the only family referent in the entire parish record. No marriages, baptisms or other deaths either for the Weiss/Wise family or his wife's maiden name (Hornung).

Text of John M. Wise will: "In the presence of god and these witnesses I John Wise of the township of Sewickley county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania being of sound minde but feeling the infirmities of this frail life do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me heretofore made by me.

1. Article first I direct that my funeral expenses and debts be paid as soon as possible after my decease out of the first money that comes into their hands from any portion of my estate. 2. I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Ana Margaret all of my property her natural lifetime and her decice if any of it remains to be equally divided amongst my children. 3. I appoint as my executors of my will John Ehrlich Adam Rader. In witness thereof I herewith set my hand and seal this thirteenth day January 1870"
