Johann Frederich (Stoever/Staver) STIVER b. 10 Mar 1794, Paxton Township, Dauphin County, PA, m. 29 Jun 1823, in Montgomery Co., OH, Mary Polly BICKEL. Johann died 22 Oct 1870, Benton Twp., Elkhart Co., IN, buried: Benton Lutheran Cemetery, row 12. STOEVER/STAVER/STIVER John Frederich Stoever, son of John Adam and Veronica "Fanny" Dups Stoever, was born 10 March 1794 in Paxton Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania and died 22 October 1870 in Benton Township, Elkhart County, Indiana. He was baptized 11 May 1794 at Swatara Reformed Church, Jonestown, Pennsylvania, with John Frederich Stoever as his sponser. Frederich was approximately ten years old when his father moved the family to Ohio. He probably attended the school taught by John Samuel Mau since his father Adam was instrumental in bringing the man into the community to teach and preach. The first official record of Frederich as an adult was his purchase of eighty acres of land 17 August 1819 from his parents, Adam and "Fonia" Stiver. The land, for which Frederich paid $160, was located in the west side of the southeast quarter of section 19, township 4, range 4, Jackson Township, Montgomery County, Ohio. When the deed was written both parties were described as residents of Preble County. Frederich Stiver was married to Mary Bickle in Montogomery County. Frederich was about 10 years old when his family moved to Ohio. Moved his family to Elkhart County, IN., in 1850. On February 18, 1854, he purchased land in Elkhart County, IN. from John and Lydia Cooper. Lydia Cooper was his daughter. On the 23rd of February 1858, Frederick sold his land to his son Elias Stiver. Tombstone Mary Polly BICKEL b. ca 1800, PA, d. 8 May 1879, Elkhart Co., IN, buried: Benton Lutheran Cemetery, row 12. WILL was submitted for probate and filed 05-17-1879. names Elias Stiver, Eliza Stroup, Lydia Cooper, Sarah Guntle, Catherine Brown, Fanny Chivington, and Mary Ann Hartman.
