- Will of John Ottinger, Senr., written 20 February 1868
- Slaves, Sarah and her two daughters, Julia and Mary, to be set free with a years provisions, also to have cooking utensils, one little and one big wheel, one loom and fixtures and the use of cotton and flax patches and not to be molested by any of my children.
- Land and property to be sold and equally divided between my seven surviving children: George, Henry, Michael, Peter, William, Betsey Nease widow of John Neese, Mary Reese, wife of John Reese.
- Executors: Sons - Peter and William
- Dated: 8 February 1854.
