Facts and Events
Johann Philip Ehrenhardt (Aaronhart) was among the alien males over 16 who took oaths to the government in Philadelphia on 11/2/1744. He received a land warrant in Bucks County, Pa. in 174 8. He remained there until 1758 when he migrated to Rowan County, NC. He was naturalized there in March 1761 and received a Granville land grant in 1762.
He has a blacksmith and wagon maker by trade. He would build farm plows and other farm tools; also household furniture. When the Revolutionary War broke out in 1776 he volunteered his services to the defense of his adopted country. He was in the 10th Regiment of the Continental Line, Brevard's Company, Quarter Master Corps as a blacksmith.
His will was probated in 1804. Son John (Johann) to have half of home place. The other half to be sold upon his death and the money to be equally divided among his other children: Mary, Elizabeth, Philip, George, John, Christina, Easter, Eve, Eliza Catey, Mary Margaret.
Neither of his wives was mentioned in his will so it is assumed that they were both deceased.
Philip obtained land 8/28/1762 on both sides of Crane Creek. Wife Elizabeth also got land grant on 8/26/1762. |
