JOEL JACKSON was born in Trimble County, Ky., the third of five children born to Joel and Nancy (Head) Jackson. Joel Jackson came to Kentucky at an early day with his parents, settled new New Castle, Ky., and followed farming all his life, and died there in 1833. His wife was the daughter of Joel Head, was born in Virginia, and died near New Castle, in Henry in 1846. Our subject was reared on the farm, and educated at the common schools. He chose farming for his vocation, at which he has been very successful, owning 136 acres of land near Bedford, and also devotes some time to stock raising. December 16, 1836, he married Lucy A., daughter of John and Mary A. Wright, natives of Virginia, but early settlers of Kentucky. They have a family of four daughters and three sons: Susan E., Joel S., Mary M., John W., Nancy C., James and Frances. The family are members of the Baptist Church. Politically Mr. Jackson is a Democrat.
