"Joel Harvey was born in the old cabin home, there having been but one white child born before him in Prairie township, Julius Benbor, who was born in June, 1821. Joel remained at home and faithfully assisted in the work of the pioneer farm, and laborious toil it was. November 2, 1843, at the age of twenty-two years, he was united in marriage with Miss Sarah Downs, an elder sister to the wife of Absolom Harvey."
