John Thompson was one of the fifty-five early proprietors of Brookhaven, going to Setauket in 1656. He was born 3 Jne 1609, died 14 Oct 1688, married Hannah Brewster, a sister of the Rev. Nathaniel Brewster and daughter of Francis Brewster of New Haven. We have very little in the way of direct record or information regarding Job Smith, whose descendants possibly out-number those of any other of Richard Smith's children." It describes land north of Missequogue and east of James Neck p58-59 Richard Smith and Wife Sarah - Deed to Son Job Smith This indenture made on the 30 day Aug 1688 between Richard Smith Sr of Smithtown and Sarah his wife on the one part and Job Smith of the 2nd part for our well beloved son they convey all messuage tenement or dwelling house home lot and all other lands and meadows and buildings now in the tenure and occupation of said Job Smith within the bounds of Smithtown; also 20 acres of upland adjoining to upper end of Job’s home lot and 50 acres of upland lying at northeast branch adjoining land of Daniel Smith, northerly, westerly by the west side of the swamp.
