Joanna Outridge was baptised on 10th January 1748 at Ickleford in Hertfordshire, daughter of Eliza Maria Outridge, formerly Griffin, and her husband William Outridge.

Joanna's next sighting is on 19th May 1777, aged 29, when she married William Hornsby at Ickleford. They went on to have three children baptised at Ickleford between 1777 and 1784, although two of these died as babies.

The family later appears to have moved to the neighbouring parish of Holwell. Joanna died in 1797, aged 49, and was buried back at Ickleford on 8th June 1797. William was still alive at the time of her death, but had yet to be traced after Joanna's death.
