His Great-Grandfather Foster fought under George Washington in the Revolutionary War, His Grandfather Christian Foster fought in the War of 1812. The grandfather Christian Foster with his family moved to Seneca Co., OH, near where Fostoria is now. They unloaded their goods under three big white oak trees. There was a man that was called Old Charley Foster who started up a store that went by the name of "Foster's Store" then somebody thought of calling it "Fostoria:", which it is called today. Old Charley had a son whom they called young Charley Foster. He was Governor of OH two terms. (And I may add, my father, Curtis Elder, named by older brother Charley after the governor.
