"J. T. Riherd: Representative Thirty-fourth District: Glasgow Junction, Barren
County Democrat. Farmer. Born in Barren County, July 29, 1856, a son of J. L. and Z. T. Riherd. Educated in Public School, Miami College, Glasgow. Taught school and then engaged in farming. Served one term as Justice of the Peace. President of a bank and deacon of a Baptist Church. Elected to present house over Tom Emerson, Republican, by 819 majority. Married."
He died of cancer of the throat and according to reports constantly smoked a
pipe.

Glasgow Times, Sept. 23, 1915 "News reached this office just at press time that Hon. J. T. Riherd, one of the most prominent and influential citizens of this county, died at his home near Glasgow Junction, yesterday morning about 10 o'clock at the age of 59 years. Mr. Riherd was a member of the Kentucky Legislature in 1910, and was very prominent in Democratic circles. He was a devout member of the Baptist church, like by all his acquaintences. He is survived by his wife, brothers, and sisters and eight children. Interment will be in the Cave City Cemetery after funeral services conducted by the Rev. J. P. Brooks of this city. More extensive notice will appear in next weeks issue." ( The following issue was not available).
