    Mortensen, Jesse Leonidas, Bishop of the Lankershim Ward, Hollywood Stake, California, from 1929 to 1930+, was born April 21, 1873, in Parowan, Utah, the son of Hans J. Mortensen and Emily Dionitia Alexander. He was baptized June 2, 1881, ordained a Seventy Feb. 14, 1897, by Heber J. Grant, and filled a mission to the Northern States in 1897-1899. He was ordained a High Priest Nov. 4, 1894, by Levi P. Helm, and a Bishop April 21, 1918, by Richard R. Lyman. Before moving to California he acted as Bishop of the Amalga Ward, Benson Stake, Utah, in 1918-1925.
