c 1828 Birth of son, Jesse, Jr, probably Boone Co KY. He married the divorced wife of James A. Shearer, Mary Metcalf Shearer (c 1836 - 4 May1897). She and James were divorced in October 1855. She and Jesse weremarried by John Underhill, a Baptist clergyman, on 29 Oct 1855. A Civil War veteran, Jesse enlisted on 10 Oct 1864 and mustered 18 Oct1864 in Covington, KY & served with the A Company commanded by CaptainJames Riddell, 55th Infantry Regiment, Kentucky Volunteers. Some of hispension papers list his last name as Batchelder. He was sent home on"sick furlough" and died in a Burlington, KY "asylum" or "poor house" ofdiarrhea on 18/19 June 1865. He and Mary had 2 kids: Eliza Ann "Annie" (8 Jun 1861 Boone Co - 11 Dec1912 Ludlow, Kenton, KY) m (21 Jul 1880 Lawrenceburg, Dearborn Co, IN) toCharles A. Sabie/r (Dec 1858 Dearborn Co - c 1902 Good Samaritan Hosp,OH) and Jesse Jr (30 Dec 1859 - aft 1880). (In the 1870 Boone Countycensus, 11 year old Jesse, Jr, is listed as working as a laborer on thefarm of Henry S. & Mary Rouse, ages 29 and 28 respectively.) On 25 July 1887, per pension paperwork, Mary Batchelor was age 51 andliving in Sedamsville, Cincinnati, Ohio. References
