    Bio: Jerome was a son of Samuel and Julia (Place) Marvin. He taught school and spent a year at Wabash College in Indiana. In 1864 he enlisted in the 137th Ohio Infantry Regiment where he served three months. Jerome returned to his studies at the Eclectic Medical Institute of Cincinnati and graduated in June of 1866. His practice of medicine began in Cincinnati in the fall of 1866 in partnership with Dr. Scudder, which partnership continued six years. During that time he was demonstrator of anatomy in the Eclectic Institute of Cincinnati for three years. He married Martha Anne Stokes on April 16, 1868. They had two children, Mabel and Maude. He began practicing medicine in Sidney, Ohio, in 1872. After a year, he moved to Harrison, Ohio, and bought the interest of Charles G. Thomas in the drug business. He held the office of Township Treasurer of Harrison for one year, was a member of the school board for three years, and gave material aid in establishing the grading system in the schools. Marvin was a Republican. He was also a Free Mason, holding the place of Master of Snow Lodge #193 for three years.
