!BIOGRAPHY: He was born in Virginia, then moved to Kentucky. He bought government land in 1820 and again in 1828. He married Judith Benning of Lexington, Fayette Co., Kentucky. Rev. George Boom performed the ceremony. The Bennings had also moved from Virginia to Kentucky. Jeremiah and Judith made their home in Winchester, Clark Co., Kentucky. Boonesboro is also in Clark Co. In 1833, Jeremiah and his son John moved to Clark Co., Missouri. They built a two story log cabin by the Fox River on a farm consisting of 400 acres which presumably was part of the government land he had purchased years before. One winter a hunting party of Indians camped on the banks of the Fox River. !CEMETERY: Lewis Cem. |
