BIOGRAPHY: New England Ancestry of Susan Alma Cook 1866-1934 Researched and Compiled by Philip R. Bunnelle Santa Clara, California 1998 Published by PB Press - Santa Clara, Ca Page 66 Lt. Jeremiah Knight - son of Richard and Penelope or Dinah Knight. Jeremiah was born 23 December 1719. He married around 1737 Penelope Wescott (Westcott) and the lived in Cranston, RI. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. The 1774 Rhode Island state census shows him heading a household of 4 in Cranston. The 1777 Military census lists his as between 50 and 60, and "able." 1790 census shows a Jeremiah Knight heading a household of two there, with a Nehemiah Knight, undoubtedly his son, two doors away. Jeremiah died in Pomfred, Windham Co., CT. 23 June 1800. This town is in the northeast corner of Connecticut, about ten miles from the Rhode Island border. His son Nehemiah was also living there at the time.
