                Jay W. Cunningham Dies; Former Street Superintendent

Jay W. Cunningham, former city street superintendent, husband of Mrs. Florance Shambo Cunningham of 2 Florence St., died this morning in Comm- unity Hospital, Syracuse after a long illness.

He was assistant superintendent of streets from 1940 to 1944 and super- intendent from 1944 until his retirement in 1958.

Mr. Cunningham was a native of Brooklyn and lived most of his life in Auburn. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of the Holy Name Society.

Beside his widow, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Paul Dwyer of Auburn and two sons, Thomas J. Cunningham of san Mateo, California, and John F. Cunn- ingham of Auburn.

Funeral services will be at 8:30am Friday in the Farrell Funeral Home and at 9 a.m. in St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
