  5.   JEDEDIAH IRISH 1688-1758

    Be it Remembered that I Judiah Irish of Stonington in the County of New London & Colony of Connecticut Husbandman being of Perfect Mind & Memory & well of Body, but calling to Mind the Mortality of my Body and knowing it is appointed for Men once to Dye, & the Time thereof being uncertain Do make and Ordain this to be my last Will & Testament in manner & form following Principally & first of all I Give and recommend my Soul into the Hands of God who gave it & my Body I commend to the Earth to be buried in a decent & Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executor & Executrix of this my Last Will & Testament And as to such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to Bless me with in this Life after my just Debts & Funeral Expenses are fully satisfied & paid I Give devise & dispose of the same in the following manner & form Viz
    Imprimus I Give unto my beloved Wife The Sum of Five hundred pounds old Tenor with all my Household Goods except two Feather Beds & the furniture now belonging to them I Give unto my Wife the use of my Mare & Side Saddle for the Term of three years next after my decease And I Give unto my sd Wife the use & improvement of all the Money that is or shall be due to me at the Time of my decease
    Item I Give unto my beloved Son Judiah Irish One hundred Pounds old Tenor Item I Give to my beloved Daughter Mary Robinson Thirty Pounds old Tenor

    I Nominate & appoint my sd beloved Son John Irish to be Executor & my sd beloved Wife to be my Executrix of this my last Will & Testament hereby giving unto my sd Son John all my Farming Utencials [sic] for & in full satisfaction to him for all the trouble & expense he may be at in the Executorship of this my last Will & Testament And as to the rest & residue of my Estate whether the same be Real or Personal or wheresoever the same is or may be found I Give devise & Bequeath among four of my Sons to wit John, Joseph, Job & George to be equally divided among them My Will & meaning is & I do hereby order that all the aforesd Legacys [sic] given to my Children & Grand Children in Money old Tenor shall be paid to them in old Tenor Bills of & Current in the Colony of Rhode Island & to be paid to them immediately after my sd Wife shall cease to remain My Widow And I do hereby utterly disallow of all other Executors Wills & Testaments by me heretofore made Ratyfying [sic] this and no other other to be my last Will & Testament In Witness whereof i have here unto set my hand & Seal in South Kingston the Seventeenth day of April In the thirtieth Year of his Majesty's Reign Anno Dono. 1757
