274. Alexander Semple, eldedest son of James or "English" Semple, was born in London, April 29, 1805; emigrated to America, May, 1848; died at Warehouse Point, Ct., July 5, 1873. Married Jeannette Buchanan (born February 11, 1806), granddaughter of James Buchanan (of Kilbarchan), antiquarian and intimate friend of the poet, Robert Tannahill.
