!FAMILY: Date: Wed, 26 Dec 2001 19:40:28 -0500, From: Tim King "Acadia Travel" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] I think you are talking about Jean Baptiste who married Francoise Melanson abt 1692 at Beaubassin and their son Jean Baptiste "Crock" Cyr who married Anne Marguerite Cormier at Beaubassin 26 Jan 1734. He was at Fort Beausejour when it fell and was held as a political prisoner on the St. John River with his family until 1763. After the war Crock and a few other Acadians settled at Ecoupag near what is now Fredericton. After the American Revolution the British, having never recognized the Acadian claims to the land at Ecoupag, ordered them removed and the land was given to Loyalists. Cyr and some of his sons and other decided to move further up the St. John River and settled what is now Van Buren, Maine about June 1785. Unfortunately Crock Cyr died in May 1785.
