22 December 2006, Jasper G. Greeson, 82, of 5961 South NC 49, Burlington, died suddenly at his residence on Thursday, December 21, 2006. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 23, at Low's Lutheran Church by the Rev. David Mielke. Burial will follow in Low's Lutheran Church Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of the late Ruby Lee Isley Greeson and the son of James Garland Greeson and Bertha Shoffner Greeson, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during World War II. He was injured during the Battle of Iwo Jima and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a cabinet builder. Mr. Greeson was a member of Low's Lutheran Church, a church choir member, a former Sunday School teacher, and active in all areas of the church. He was a member of the Sandhill Seniors Golf Association. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Nancy G. Shoffner and husband, Doug; two sons, Mr. Kenneth G. Greeson and wife, Karen and Mr. David Michael Greeson and wife, Corky, all of Burlington; eight grandchildren, Jeff Shoffner and wife, Christy, Jonathan Shoffner and wife, Christy, Shaun Greeson and wife, Greta, Kelli Harrell and husband, Tony, Katina Rappaport and husband, Rich, Tara Evans and husband, Michael, Rosa Leigh Greeson, and Audrey Marie Greeson; 13 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Vera Robertson of Burlington, Mrs. Winnie Stafford of Kimesville, and Mrs. Agnes Loy of Burlington. He was preceded in death by a grandson, William Bradley Greeson; one sister, Mrs. Bernice Neese; and five brothers, Junius Greeson, Kelly Greeson, George Greeson, Bayne Greeson, and Vance Greeson. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington. Other times they will be at the residence.
