BIRTH! He was born in Conn. 13 Jun 1779 and was 12 years old when he moved with his family to Yates Co. N.Y. Of his 90 years in Jerusalem Township in Yates Co., knowledge is scanty, but records show that he was married to Anna Davis, and according to the 1820 census he is listed as head of household in Jerusalem, N.Y. with 5 sons and 4 daughters, 3 under 10, 4 between 10 and 16, 2 between 16 and 26. At age 90 Jared made the move with his son Charles by covered wagon, herding a flock of sheep, to Iowa. Jared died 21 Feb 1879 at the age of 99 years, 8 months, 13 days. he is the oldest person in Cottonwood Cemetery at Lake City, Calhoun Co. Iowa.
