Funeral services for Janath "Kay" Brightwell, 53, of Protem, will be held Feb. 27, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Protem Community Church. Burial will follow at the Protem Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Whelchel Funeral Chapel in Forsyth on Feb. 26, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. Services are under the the direction of Whelchel Funeral Chapel.
Ms. Brightwell died Feb. 23, 2008, at Skaggs Community Hospital in Branson.
Kay was born the daughter of Urey and Eastle Brightwell. She attended the Protem Community Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry Brightwell; and nephews, Joe Cutbirth and Wesley Brightwell.
She is survived by her siblings, Dorothy Godwin and her husband Jay, of Branson, Samuel Brightwell and his wife Barbara, of Springer, Okla., Delmar Brightwell and his wife Wanda, of Fort Worth, Texas, Donnie Brightwell and his wife Darlene, of Protem, Kenith Brightwell and his wife Josie, of Springer, Okla.; and sister-in-law, Kathy Brightwell, of Protem.
Memorials may be sent to the Protem Community Church, at 194 Five Brothers Rd, Protem, Mo. 65733.

All of Urey 's children have families except Kay. They are all outstanding citizens and I'm proud to be related to each and everyone of them.
Urey was very close to my father, Floyd; they were in business together much of their lives and lived near each other in Protem until the new Dam was built and the flood-possible area claimed the land where Urey's home stood. They then bought the old farm south of the village where Eastile was raised and lifed their till they died. Donnie and Delene live there now.
