I can not believe that I have misplaced the immediate family data on this lovely lady (including her maiden name). They lived at 714 N. Main in Findlay, OH. Her ss #301-40-2161, their marriage record (likely in Findlay, OH), or her death record would no doubt provide needed data that I naively expected to get "later". Another of the many famous stories of people missing good family data because of hesitations. Her letter of 29 Dec. 1985 mentioned that her husband George was placed in Heritage Manor Nursing Home (Findlay, OH?); that one son George, Jr. (a veterinarian and wife, Carol, and their son lived near N. Baltimore, OH where his father, an MD was born and lived) took her to his (Geo. Jr.) home 1985, but she returned to her house in Findlay that summer. At this time she was having some serious health problems (heart and kidney). She mentioned that her son, Jim, his wife and their college aged daughter visited her for Christmas 1985. Because she was a professional genealogist, someone (her sons?) will have considerable data on this family. She was a very great help to me via mail and during a personal visit to her home in Findlay, OH summer 1984 when we also had a delightful time with her husband, George (a diminuative and fragile imp whom I loved). During that 1985 visit to Findlay, she took us to the home of Mrs. Dan Gerber, a distant relative still living on an old Braucht farm in Hancock Co., OH where there was a small cemetery in the field near the house (we could see it through the rain from the home, but did not trudge to it then). She provided me with several bits of data regarding both Putnam and Hancock County Braucht/Braught people (obviously they were related, but documentation has not yet revealed the common parents). Although we jammed considerable data and talk into our two visits with her in Findlay, there were unfortunately so many pieces left uncovered that she would have shared in time. |
