Alexander DOUGLAS marr Janet Hardie BOW, dau of Robert Bow, 17mar1810 at Edinburgh (familysearch). “History of the Society of Writers to her Majesty's Signet” (1890): Alexander Douglas (19jun1780-1jul1851), 3rd son of Dr. Christopher Douglas, physician in Kelso, was Fiscal 1844-51; he marr 20mar1810 Janet Hardie, 2nd dau of Robert Bow, Edinburgh merchant. Alexander Douglas and Janet Hardie Bow had children 1817-24 at Edinburgh (familysearch).

Janet was chr 13mar1793 at Edinburgh and d. 1856 (info from “Pedigrees of the Forresters of Arngibbon 1492-1880”, C. Titchett, rootsweb). The parentage of Janet Forrester, mother of Janet Bow, is unclear. Janet FORRESTER, dau of William, marr Robert BOW 22nov1787 at Edinburgh (familysearch). Possibly Janet was sister of Alexander Forrester (b. 1764 Carstairs, Lanarks.), who marr Charlotte McCaul (b. 1764); Alexander was son of William Forrester and Mary Bone or Bayne (familysearch). However C. Titchett (rootsweb) claims that Janet Forrester was chr 26jun1766 at Paisley, dau of William Forrester (b. 1702 Kippen, Stirlings.) and Marion Storie (info from “Pedigrees of the Forresters of Arngibbon 1492-1880”). William Forrester and Mary Bayne had a dau Janet (1756-1804); she however marr Rev. William Watson (histfam website).
