Information from J. Mamantow. Peter SINCLAIR was born 5oct1840 at Glasgow and died 1mar1891 at Condong, NSW, and was buried at Murwillumbah, NSW, Australia (J. Mamantow). Peter Sinclair married Jane YORK 31dec1862 at Milton, Glasgow (IGI). Peter Sinclair (aged 22, 20 Burnside St., Glasgow, pattern maker journeyman, both parents dead) married Jean York (aged 20, 7 Burnside Buildings, Glasgow, domestic servant) 31dec1862 at 4 Windsor Terr., Glasgow (marriage record, J. Mamantow). Peter d. 1mar1891, aged 51, as a result of a fall from his horse; he was buried at Murwillumbah, NSW, Australia. Peter Sinclair (5oct1840 Glasgow-1mar1891 Condong, NSW) was chief engineer at Condong Mill for the Colonial Sugar Refining Co., Sydney (J. Mamantow). Jane York possibly d. 7sep1925, aged 77, and was buried at Murwillumbah, NSW (J. Mamantow). The birth date 1843 of Jane seems correct on census. However Jean Sinclair, daughter of James and M.S. (Rintom), d. 1923 at Murwillumbah (NSW government). The marriage at 4 Windsor Terr. may have been at the home of the family of Stuart Bell (1842-1936), who married James McIntosh (1831-1880). There were 2 Windsor Terraces, one in Woodside nr St. George’s Rd. where Stuart lived, and another, now Kirklee Terr, in Kelvinside, further from Glasgow centre. The children b. in Queensland were registered with mother Jeanie/Jeannie York (Queensland-government).

In 1851 James York (1821 Barony, mason), wife Elizabeth (1824 Glasgow) and children Jeanie (1843), Margaret (1845), Elizabeth (1848), Isabella (1850), lodgers David Rintoul (1834, mason), John Rintoul (1838), b. Glasgow, were at 62 Stewart St., Barony (census). Possibly in 1861 Peter Sinclair (b. 1837, pattern maker) lived with the McVicar family at Glasgow (census). In 1861 Jane York (1843 Glasgow, servant) was at 5 Burnside Buildings, Glasgow (census).
