The Bible record does not give Jane's last name and documentary evidence of her maiden name has not yet been found. The Bible says she died with measles.

Jane was found in the 1850 Census with 3 children still living with her: John, Sarah and Thomas. This census mentions that Jane was born in NC. Also the 1900 census record for her son John M. Jackson says that his parents were both born in North Carolina.

Listed in the 1850 Overton County, Tennessee Census, District 6, page 86, enumerated Sept. 26th, Dwelling 590, Household 591 as Jane Jackson, age 49, born NC. With children John, Sarah, and Thomas, all born in TN.
