Jane Ann Smith was born in 1859 at Plymouth in Devon, daughter of Sarah Smith, formerly Buller, and her husband James Smith, a carter. Jane appears in both the 1861 and 1871 censuses living with her parents and siblings at Seymour Street in Plymouth. In 1881 she was living with an aunt and uncle at Belgrave Terrace.
In 1890 Jane married Frederick William Quick, a picture frame maker. The 1891 census finds the couple living with Jane's widowed mother at 37 North Street. Frederick died in 1896.
In 1898 Jane married again, with her second husband being William Richard Harry, a plasterer. The 1901 census finds the family living in two rooms at 12 Chedworth Street in Plymouth. Ten years later the 1911 census similarly finds Jane, her husband and three children living in two rooms at 21 Nelson Street in Plymouth.
William died in 1916. Jane outlived him by about five years and died in 1921, aged 61.
