JANE was born at Black Hill on Decemeber 18th, 1862. After leaving school she trained and became a school teacher. From letters in the Education Department files she was in charge of Cressy State School in February 1889. Jane married Alexander Nelson at St John's Church of England Scarsdale in April 1891 and they returned to make their home in Cressy. They had two children, Richard and Jane. Sadly Jane died in 1894, aged 31, just eight days after baby Jane was born. Alexander later remarried and the children were brought up with their father and stepmother.

Richard began training as a Presbyterian Minister but enlisted and served overseas during World War 1. He married Agnes Law in 1919 at Edinburgh, Scotland, before returning to settle in Melbourne. They had a family of one daughter and two Sons. Jane married David McIntyre in 1922 at Cressy and made their home in East Malvern where they raised a family of ten children, six sons and four daughters.
