Jane Moles was baptised in 1846 at Baldock in Hertfordshire, daughter of Maria Moles, formerly Bullen, and her husband Charles Moles, an agricultural labourer. Jane appears in the 1851 census living at Norton End in Baldock with her parents and siblings.

By 1871, Jane had married a man named John Hawkins and had a daughter named Fanny. The 1871 census finds Jane living with John, Fanny and Jane's widowed mother Maria at Norton End, although the part of it which then fell within Bygrave parish. Jane has yet to be researched after 1871.
