Jane Cannam was baptised on 8th February 1767 at Glapthorn in Northamptonshire, daughter of Jane Cannam, formerly Limmin, and her husband James Cannam. The family had only recently moved to Glapthorn; Jane’s older sister had been baptised in 1764 at Elton in Huntingdonshire, where their parents had married.
On 22nd November 1786, aged nineteen, Jane married a carpenter and agricultural labourer called John Swan Palmer at Glapthorn. They went on to have seven children baptised there between 1787 and 1802, although it seems that some died young – in particular they had three sons called William.
Jane’s father died in 1808 and her mother died in 1821.
The 1841 census finds Jane and John living in Glapthorn. The 1851 census gives their address as Upper Street in Glapthorn.
Jane died aged 85, being buried at Glapthorn on 11th February 1852. She and John had been married for 65 years. John survived her by two years.

Whilst no named connection has been found, this baptism has been linked to the Jane Cannam who married John Swan Palmer on the basis that it is in the parish she gave as her birthplace and it is around the time that the ages she gave as an adult suggest she was born. There does not appear to be any burial or alternative marriage at Glapthorn for the Jane baptised in 1767.
