Mrs. Anderson Benson, whose death has been hourly expected for many days, died Saturday night. She was a lady much esteemed in the community. Mrs. Benson's maiden name was Jane Ayers, and she was born in Pennsylvania, but moved in the early days from Ohio, and coming to Madison was married by the Rev. Dr. Little, it being the first ceremony he performed here, now nearly 50 years ago. She was 67 years of age. She was the mother of ten children, eight of whom are living. All are married and all but three live here. She was raised in the Presbyterian faith, but in 1856 joined the Third Street Methodist Church, of which the Rev. Giles Smith was then pastor. She was attacked with a bronchial disorder 33 years ago, and was a constant sufferer from the affliction until her death. The funeral occurred at 2 o'clock this afternoon and was largely attended.
