Jan, according to the will of their maternal grandfather, Jan Mattysen Jansen, filed in the Probate Court at Albany, was alive Oct. 10, 1719, but evidently died previous to 1727, for he does not share in the joint transfer of Mattysen real estate in that year nor yet again in 1728. As further and conclusive evidence, in the latter year Elias had a Jan, or John, baptized in his second family.
