Obituary of James John Riley York

YORK, JAMES JOHN -- Funeral services will be conducted in the chapel at Greenlawn Mortuary Thursday at 8 p.m. for James John York, 71, of 3815 Hillburn Road, who died April 25 in a Bakersfield hospital. Tharold Sylvester will officiate and interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Mr. York was a native of Jamestown, Tenn., and had lived in Kern County for 26 years. He was formerly employed by DiGiorgio Farms. He is survived by his wife Grace Jane York, one daughter, Juanita Southwood of Bakersfield; three sons, Glenn E., James A., and Lynmmore L; his mother Martha York, all of Bakersfield; three sisters, Alice Delk of Jamestown, Tenn., Dora Truett and Edna Grant, both of Bakersfield; three brothers, Aleck York of Missouri, Walter and Cordell, both of Bakersfield; 16 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Clifton Stancliff, Justen Denlo, Bernard Bone, Orval Langston, Henry Middleton and Melenie Stearns. (1960)
